I read at School Library Journal that Where the Wild Things Are is being made into a movie that will be released Oct. 09. I’m trying to think of another example of a picture book that has been turned into a movie, but can’t come up with one at this moment. I wonder what tone they’ll take with the movie? It’s hard to tell if the monsters will be cute or scary.
I’m sure you are all aware that Tale of Despereaux is coming in out in an animated movie soon. There is a contest being offered by School Library Journal, Candlewick Press, and Universal movies. It is open to one entry per school, library, and public library. I’m signed up right away and I’m sure you will want to as well! Thanks to Robin for the info!

Seems like it’s a year of making books into movies. I found this preview of Inkheart, another book I’ve enjoyed that I hope they don’t mess up by making a book that is not true to the original story.
