28 Days Later is the second annual campaign for Brown Bookshelf to celebrate Children’s Literature through Black History Month. Each day of the month a different “under-the-radar” children’s book author or illustrator . They also have a free poster. Now I wouldn’t say Sharon Draper is under the radar, but I did learn some new things about her and look forward to learning about some authors and illustrators that might be new to me! Check it out!

Did you know Scholastic has the most awesome author read-alouds and interviews? I didn’t and I’m in love with them. How could I have not known? Michele Obama, Suzanne Collins reading, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, presidential trivia and more.

I learned I can use my Flip video camera as a document camera from a teacher being interviewed about the set-up of her classroom. Lots of fun and helpful little snippets for you as well as your students.

Check it out!

While doing some on-line research I came across this tool, which is new to me. It is called Literature Map and allows you to put in the name of an author and it shows you what other readers of that certain author are reading. The closer an author is in the map to your author, the closer they are related. Try it out and see what you think. It’s kind of fun.
